Configure communication with printers

This section describes the settings used by iWEMC to communicate with printers.

Before you start

Make sure that authentication and the SNMP community are configured on the printers.

Basic settings

  1. Select Devices > Device communication settings

  2. Define the necessary settings:

User Authentication

  1. Select User Authentication

  2. Select Read/Write in the access rights and click Add

  3. On the Authentication Information Details page, fill in the Username and Password fields

Password Authentication

  1. Select Password Authentication

  2. Select Read/Write in the access rights and click Add

  3. On the Authentication Information Details page, fill in the Description and Password fields

If there are printers with different passwords, you must add all the passwords. The tool distributes them automatically.

SNMPv1

Fill in the name of the SNMPv1 community defined on the printer

If the device is configured to use a dedicated community, select Use a dedicated community.

SNMPv3

Fill in the SNMPv3 username, authentication password, encryption password and context name defined on the printer

Service Management Service

  1. Select Service Management Service

  2. Select Read/Write in the access rights and click Add

  3. On the Authentication Information Details page, fill in the Password field

Configure the task of checking printer settings

  1. Select Tasks > Built-in tasks

  2. Select Check Device Setting Values Management Functionality

  3. Click on Execute now

Access the task result

  1. Select Tasks > History

  2. In the filter, select All tasks

  3. Check the status of the task
