Communication Test and Error Codes
After you make all the necessary settings, click Send to Printers The printer will perform a communication test and the ECT printer settings screen will show the result. The communication test process occurs as follows:
First, the module receives the configuration;
The printer performs a communication test with the configured server (NDD Print Host or Datacenter);
If the accounting is enabled, the module will generate an NPL file. This NPL file contains the last job of the day, fetched from the printer. If the Collector is working correctly and reconfiguration is needed, the module will not generate the NPL file, only the fetching of printer jobs will be validated;
If counters and supplies are enabled, the module will generate an NSL file with the printer's counters and supplies;
The module sends the NPL/NSL files to the configured server.
If all steps are successful, the ECT screen will show a "Success!" message. If an error occurs in any step, the process stops and the return message will display an error code.
Error Code | Possible causes |
---|---|
Error #001 | Datacenter is not operating |
Error #002 | Enterprise Key entered incorrectly; Datacenter does not match Enterprise Key; Enterprise Key removed from Datacenter |
Error #003 | Printer busy; No printer job on the day to account; Printer user and/or password incorrect; Printer SNMP community incorrect; Could not resolve printer hostname |
Error #004 | Printer could not communicate with the server; Incorrect NDD Print Host address; DCS Server port block (standard 5656); DCS Server service stopped on the server; The hostname of the server could not be resolved |
Error #005 | Printer busy; No printer job on the day to account; Printer user and/or password incorrect; Could not resolve printer hostname |
Error #006 | Printer could not communicate with the Datacenter; Printer without Internet communication (external datacenter); Incorrect Datacenter address; Offline datacenter; HTTPS port lock (443) |
Error #007 | Incorrect printer administrator user |
Error #008 | There is no communication with the printer to be configured; Application is not installed on the printer; Incorrect address; Could not resolve printer hostname |
Error #009 | Generally this error occur when the printer access credentials are incorrect or due network block in the ports that are used. Please check if there's nothing impeding the connection (like firewalls) by port 23. |
Error #010 | The connection may be lost or the device not respond in a timely manner, check if the printer is still connected or if there is any blockage in the network. |
If any failure occurs when importing the settings, click Save not configured, so all addresses (IP or Hostname) of these printers will be saved in another .csv file, thus preventing this process from being redone in printers where the import was successful.
