Logical accounting by spool
Logical accounting by spool is performed by the NDD Print Agent module, which when installed on the server and/or user workstations, captures information from the print file generated by the Windows spool, or Linux CUPS, generates a encrypted log and sends the information to the NDD Print Host.
It is important to note that the NDD Print Agent module has other characteristics, but in the accounting scenario it works by monitoring and collecting information directly from the spool. Below you can see how this module works, and how it communicates with the other modules of the NDD Print 360 solution.
Scenario 01
In this scenario, the environment has a print server and all user stations have the print queues of this server mapped. Therefore, accounting is performed by the NDD Print Agent that is installed on the print server.
Scenario 02
In this scenario, the environment has a print server and all user stations have the print queues of this server mapped, however, some users also have local printers. In this case, the NDD Print Agent is installed on the workstation of users who have a local printer, and on the server to account for other prints.
