NDD Print MF and Client HP 5.24.1

Released on January 30

New features

Using a SQL Server Database to save accounting data

What is the new functionality? NDD Print MF HP now supports SQL Server to save accounting data.

What is the benefit of the new feature? Allow the use of NDD Print MF HP in environments with NLB (Network Load Balance) and also provide greater security and performance in recording accounting information.

How does the new feature work? After installing NDD Print MF HP, you can configure the database in the Database tab.

Observations?

  • In NLB environments, all HP NDD Print MF must point to the same database.

  • In case of removal of the NLB server, NDD Print MF HP must be removed or its services disabled.

Fixes

NDD Print Client HP does not fit the printer screen correctly

How did the problem happen? When clicking the delete button on the pending screen and the action was not executed on models with 800x300 screens.

When did the problem happen? When trying to delete a document.

Where was the problem? On the pending documents screen.

What was done to fix it? The initialization of a variable to perform the expected behavior was corrected.

Requests from equipment with incorrect passwords generating high memory and CPU consumption

How did the problem happen? Due to the accumulation of requests for equipment with incorrect passwords, it ended up generating a lot of processing time.

When did the problem happen? During accounting.

Where was the problem? In the accounting service.

What was done to fix it? We corrected the service to prevent incorrect password requests from continuing to be made in future jobs.

Accounting service generating memory and CPU consumption

How did the problem happen? Threads that were initialized for accounting were not terminated even after initializing the service.

When did the problem happen? When there was a high number of devices added to the NDD Print MF HP and the service was restarted several times.

Where was the problem? In the accounting service.

What was done to fix it? We corrected the service to end the threads as soon as the service started.

Update to the device's web quota service

How did the problem happen? The quota service was not being removed from the device's web page, which caused the user to receive a quota server error message.

When did the problem happen? When adding a device without the quota option on copies.

Where was the problem? In the quota service.

What was done to fix it? NDD Print MF HP will now remove the service without the need for additional tools.

Improvements

Identify if the equipment has OXPD

What purpose? To make the process of adding equipment more user-friendly.

What was done? When adding equipment, NDD Print MF HP will check whether the equipment has the OXPD feature.

What will be affected? The process of adding equipment.

Observations? The OXPD option will be checked automatically when the equipment has the feature.

Connection to NDD Print modules via HTTPS protocol

What purpose? To make communications with the NDD Print modules more secure.

What was done? Make communications to NDD Print Host (TCP Port 56569) and NDD Print Releaser (TCP Port 56570) via the HTTPS protocol.

What will be affected? Communication with the NDD Print modules.

What is the impact on the environment? The HTTP connection to the modules will be disabled from this version of NDD Print MF HP.

Observations? A minimum version of NDD Print Host 5.44.0 and NDD Print Releaser 5.18.0 is required for NDD Print MF and Client HP to work.

Connection to printers via HTTPS protocol

What purpose? To make communications with printers more secure.

What was done? Communication with printers via the HTTPS protocol (TCP port 443). See more in the prerequisites.

What will be affected? Communication with the devices.

What is the impact on the environment? Communication will be interrupted with devices that do not have the HTTPS configuration. This can happen if the printer is switched off or has a communication failure at the time of the update.

Observations? The security certificates will be generated and installed automatically by NDD Print MF HP.

Removal of communication via DCS

What purpose? Aiming for security and product evolution strategy, we removed DCS communication between NDD Print components.

What was done? We have removed communication via TCP Port 5656 between NDD Print components.

What will be affected? The communication between:

  • NDD Print MF HP and NDD Print Host

  • NDD Print MF HP and NDD Print Releaser

Improve secure communication between devices and NDD Print MF HP

What purpose? To enable NDD Print MF HP to communicate securely between devices.

What was done? We have provided the option of choosing the type of communication protocol between HTTP and HTTPS when installing NDD Print MF HP. You can also make the change later in the component's settings.

What will be affected? Communication between the devices and NDD Print MF HP.

What is the impact on the environment? If the NDD Print MF HP already has devices added, they will be unavailable until the protocol change process is completed.
