PostgreSQL database security update

We identified a critical vulnerability in PostgreSQL, as detailed in patch CVE-2024-10978, which impacted the versions used by the NDD Print MF HP component.

This vulnerability presented risks related to data integrity and security, making it necessary to upgrade to a more recent version of the database.

Update details:

  • Previous version: PostgreSQL 16.3-2 (containing the vulnerability)

  • New version: PostgreSQL 16.6-1 (fixed)

Check out the security bulletin to better understand the impacts and importance of these changes. It provides detailed information on the update and offers guidelines for keeping your environment safe.

Improvements

NDD Print MF Epson visual improvements

In this update, we focused on optimizing your experience with a series of visual and functional improvements to make navigation more intuitive and accessible.

  1. Element Realignment: We revised the arrangement of visual components to ensure a more logical and fluid organization. Now, the interface elements are arranged more intuitively, making navigation and information understanding easier.

  2. Button Adjustment: Buttons have been standardized to optimized sizes, improving both accessibility and interactivity. The spacing between buttons and their positioning have also been adjusted to provide a smoother and more efficient navigation experience.

  3. Images and Icons: We updated and repositioned images and icons according to UX/UI best practices. In addition to ensuring a visual experience consistent with the overall interface style, we also optimized the loading and display of these graphics, improving performance and visual quality.

Approving EOP 1.21 - Epson storage function

With the approval of EOP 1.21, we have opened up the possibility of using the native Storage function of Epson equipment.

2024-11-29 08_33_10-PBI DEV 99145 - Epson SDK 1.21 - Testes - Confluence.png

In short, you can store files on the printer's built-in hard disc drive for viewing, printing or exporting at any time. As this is a native function of the device, if you have any doubts, we recommend looking at the device's manual.

To enable the native function mentioned above, simply update your Epson MF to version 5.7.1.

Observations: The Cloud Storage function can only be used when there are no policies configured in the environment.

Improvements

Delegate documents - User search optimization

Users who want to delegate documents to other people can access NDD Print Releaser Web and choose which user they want to delegate their documents to. However, in environments with a large volume of data and extensive Active Directory (AD) branches, the system found it difficult to load the entire user structure, resulting in timeouts and high consumption of server resources.

Configuration instructions

In the advanced options of the LDAP connection, choose between the fields:

  • User name (login)

  • Full name

  • E-mail address

NDD Print Releaser Web 5.8.0

Released on November 13

Improvements

Delegate documents - User search optimization

Users who want to delegate documents to other people can access NDD Print Releaser Web and choose which user they want to delegate their documents to. However, in environments with a large volume of data and extensive Active Directory (AD) branches, the system found it difficult to load the entire user structure, resulting in timeouts and high consumption of server resources.

Changes implemented

  • Default configuration: NDD Print Releaser Web will be configured by default to display all users in the environment when delegating documents.

  • Optional disabling: For environments with large amounts of data where full loading is not feasible, it will be possible to disable the parameter for displaying all users. It will then be possible to perform a selective search based on the user's login, e-mail or full name.

Benefits

  • Performance optimization: Reduces consumption of server resources, avoiding timeouts in environments with large AD structures.

  • Personalized user experience: Flexibility for administrators to adjust the display according to the needs of the environment, improving system performance and usability.

Configuration instructions

NDD Print MF and Client Brother 5.10.14

Released on November 08

Fixes

Error when accounting by CSV

We have fixed a problem where the shared folder address was incorrectly linked to the authentication server's IP address. This problem was identified after upgrading to version 5.10.13, where the address of the shared folder automatically changed to the new IP address of the authentication server (e.g. from 192.168.10.10 to 192.168.20.20), even though the folder was already configured to the original address.

Now, when updating the authentication address, the address of the shared folder will retain the original configuration, without automatic changes, respecting the previously configured IP.

NDD Print MF HP 5.27.0

Released on November 5

Improvements

Pending printer registration in NDD Print MF HP

What purpose? This improvement consists of adding equipment that is not in operation, such as:

  • Printers that are switched off;

  • Printers from manufacturers other than HP;

What was done? We have allowed the user to register equipment from another manufacturer without restriction, making it easier to finalise the registration. However, the final summary screen will display the information that the printer has the status ADDITION PENDING.

EN_1-20241114-120257.png

hen you access the Pending addition details link in the Messages column on the final summary screen, you will see a message informing you that the printer in question is from a manufacturer other than HP, making it clear to the user that the equipment is not manufactured by HP.

image-20241114-120403.png

After finalising the process, the printer will appear on the NDD Print MF HP administration screen with the status ADDITION PENDING, awaiting a new addition attempt.

If the printer's IP address is still associated with a device from another manufacturer, the status message will be changed to ADDITION FAILED. However, the registration routine will continue automatically, as this process has been automated in this version. This will happen until the IP is linked to an HP printer or that address is removed from NDD Print MF HP.

Improving function of the "Smart Exchange"

What is its purpose? To allow administrators to activate and deactivate the printer replacement functionality directly from the NDD Print MF HP interface, eliminating the need to manually manipulate JSON files.

What has been done? New Smart Exchange function developed.

What will be affected? Before the improvement was developed, when it was necessary to replace a printer, it was necessary to change the SettingsData.json file, altering the BackupAccounting parameter.

Observations? The option can be found in a newly developed tab called Smart Exchange, located in the “settings” tab of NDD Print MF HP.

For more information on how to enable/disable the function, click on Enable Smart Exchange function.

Massive addition with "Pending addition" option

This option ignores all validations of the printers registered in the .CSV file, skipping the processing screen and directing the user to the final screen of the printer import wizard:

image-20241105-200903.png

This causes all printers to be displayed with a status of ADDITION PENDING in the Communication Status column on the NDD Print MF HP administration screen:

image-20241114-113701.png

After this, the add routine will run automatically. Printers with correct data will be successfully registered, while printers from manufacturers other than HP will appear with the status ADDITION FAILED, and the add routine will continue. Devices without communication will have the status ADDITION PENDING
