IMPROVEMENTS

NDD Print MF Brother 5.10.13

Released on October 23

Fixes

Embedded not respecting filter policy copies by colour

How did the problem happen? When the ‘Do not allow’ policy for the ‘Copy’ job type with the ‘Colour equals Colour’ filter was enabled in Portal 360, the block was not applied, allowing the copy job to be carried out normally.

When did the problem happen?  When copying in colour on the device.

What was done to fix it? We changed the parameters in the source code of the policy area, setting the properties that were triggered at the start of the copy job to ‘false’. This way, we were able to block ‘colour copy’ jobs whenever the policy is active.

NDD Print Agent 5.24.5

Released on October 18

Fixes

Conversion to monochrome failed in NDD Print Agent

How did the problem happen? The printer's monochrome counter was not updated when a print job was converted to monochrome

When did the problem happen?  When a colour job was converted to monochrome

Where was the problem? In the NDD Print Agent, conversion functionality, on any workstation or print server.

What was done to fix it? A new converter for monochrome has been created in the NDD Print Agent. To enable conversion, the advanced configuration key must be activated:
- Name: UseProcessIsolation
- Value: 1

Job parser causing print server crash

How did the problem happen? At random intervals, some jobs would get stuck in the NDD Print Agent parser. Over time, these jobs would accumulate, resulting in server crashes due to excessive use of CPU and RAM resources.

When did the problem happen?  Occurrences at random times.

Where was the problem? In the parser of NDD Print Agent jobs installed on print servers

What was done to fix it? The parser has been isolated in a separate NDD Print Agent process, giving us greater control over cancelling jobs. Now all you have to do is close the parser's .exe process to prevent jobs from being stuck indefinitely.

NDD Print MF Konica 5.7.13

Released on October 17

Fixes

Error when testing connection to NDD Print Host using server hostname

How did the problem happen? When the server's hostname was used to perform the communication test between the Konica NDD Print MF and NDD Print Host modules, the result was unsuccessful, making it possible to perform the communication test using only the server's IP address.

What was done to fix it? We have fixed the communication test between NDD Print MF Konica and NDD Print Host and NDD Print Releaser, making it possible to use the hostname or IP address of the server.

NDD Print MF HP 5.26.2

Released on October 16

Fixes

Hp.Services service not starting

How did the problem happen? The Hp.Service of the NDD Print MF HP did not start when the SQL Server database server was restarted.

What was done to fix it? We fixed the Hp.Service to start automatically with the status of 'Delayed Start'.

Improvements

Allow simultaneous sessions for printer registration

The implementation of the multiple session functionality for printer registration aims to enhance efficiency and speed in the process of registering and configuring new equipment.

Currently, the process is limited to a single session, which can create obstacles, especially in environments where multiple technicians or administrators are configuring printers simultaneously.

NDD Print MF and Client Epson 5.6

Released on October 14

New features

Use SQL Server database in NDD Print MF Epson

What is the new functionality? Configure a SQL Server database for use with NDD Print MF Epson.

How does the new feature work? A feature has been created that allows users to configure and connect aSQL Serverdatabase to the Epson NDD Print MF. This includes:

  • Database creation: Option to create the database using the administration interface, such as SQL Server.

  • Connection Configuration: Configuration interface to ensure correct communication between NDD Print MF Epson and the database.

What is the benefit of the new feature? Database integration will affect the way NDD Print MF Epson manages and stores data, offering greater flexibility for users who wish to use existing SQL Server databases.

  • Integration and Customization: Users will be able to integrate NDD Print MF Epson with their existing SQL Server infrastructure, facilitating data management and allowing greater customization of the printing environment.

  • Security and Control: Only administrator users can perform the configuration, ensuring greater security and control over the environment.

  • Improved Performance: Using an exclusive database for Epson NDD Print MF is recommended to improve system performance and security.

Observations?

  • Permission requirements: Configuration must be carried out by users with administrative permissions, and the database user must have adequate read and write permissions.

  • Usage recommendation: It is highly recommended that you use a dedicated database for NDD Print MF Epson to avoid conflicts.

Configuring a Secondary Server for Contingency

What is the new functionality? The new contingency functionality for NDD Print MF Epson allows you to configure a secondary server that automatically kicks in the event of a communication failure with the primary server. This ensures that critical functionalities, such as Authentication and Secure Release, continue to operate without interruption, providing greater service availability.

How does the new feature work? When the primary server experiences communication problems, the configured printers automatically try to connect to the secondary server. This way, users can continue to use the authentication and secure release functions as normal.

What is the benefit of the new feature?

  • Greater system resilience: In the event of a failure on the primary server, the system guarantees continuity of operations with no impact on the end user.

  • Ease of Configuration: Configuration of the secondary server for new printers is done automatically, reducing management effort.

Observations?

  • Contingency functionality is only available for printers registered with the secondary server configured.

  • Printers already registered with NDD Print MF Epson require manual re-registration to support contingency.

Improvements

NDD Print MF Epson Visual Improvements

In this update, we focused on optimizing your experience with a series of visual and functional improvements to make navigation more intuitive and accessible.

  1. Element Realignment: We revised the arrangement of visual components to ensure a more logical and fluid organization. Now, the interface elements are arranged more intuitively, making navigation and information understanding easier.

  2. Button Adjustment: Buttons have been standardized to optimized sizes, improving both accessibility and interactivity. The spacing between buttons and their positioning have also been adjusted to provide a smoother and more efficient navigation experience.

  3. Images and Icons: We updated and repositioned images and icons according to UX/UI best practices. In addition to ensuring a visual experience consistent with the overall interface style, we also optimized the loading and display of these graphics, improving performance and visual quality.

Printer search bar

Now it's even easier to find the printers on the added printers screen.

With this update, we've created a search bar to allow quick searches based on four pieces of information:

  • Printer Name: Find your printers using the name assigned to each device.

  • IP Address: Find printers according to the IP address configured, making it easier to manage larger networks.

  • Serial Number: Search by printer serial number, which simplifies the identification of individual devices.

  • Printer Model: Filter printers according to model, allowing efficient management of different types of devices.
